Karen Schnepf’s art creates something refreshingly unexpected with unusual elements and an array of colors. It is simplistic, always abstract, and wildly vivid.
Schnepf takes what she calls a "coloring-outside-the-lines" approach toward her artwork, experimenting with new uses for materials and tweaking old techniques. She has been mostly self taught as she says she does not like the confines of structured art classes.
Schnepf invokes bold strokes and vivid color into her artwork using acrylics, oil crayons, pencil and other mediums. The pieces are finished with several gloss coats that give them a sleek, contemporary feel. This technique was inspired by her previous work with fused glass as she desired to emulate the feeling of glass in her paintings.
